VPRS 15638 Schedules of Tenders, Requisitions and General Business, Public Works Department, Board Item Order

This series consists of Schedules submitted to the Public Works Division of the Board of Land and Works for approval. Business to be dealt with included approval of the letting of tenders and of requisitions and the sealing of contracts by the Board. Often, Board of Land and Works approval was mandated by legislation.Each Board had the same President and specific other representatives from the Departments under the Board's mandate. Usually two members deliberated on matters and signed the completed schedule. Some matters dealt with by the Board also had to be submitted to the Governor-in-Council.Details given in these schedules are the Board Number, the Office Number (the file or correspondence number allocated by the Department), the Nature of the Service, the District and the amount of expenditure involved and the Board's decision.It is believed that records in this series were held as duplicates by the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) which itself came under the mandate of VA 744 Board of Land and Works until 1964.
