Supplementary Information: An Exploratory Study on Knowledge-Augmented Question-Answering Application for Zymomonas mobilis

This dataset accompanies the supplementary materials of the study. It is a manually constructed benchmark designed to evaluate how well knowledge-augmented QA systems understand specialized concepts, terminology and relationships in synthetic biology, using Zymomonas mobilis as a representative organism. Questions are derived from primary literature on the physiology, metabolism and engineering of Z. mobilis, and are organized along an increasing cognitive difficulty continuum, from direct fact recall to multi-step reasoning. Dataset contains 312 question–answer pairs, including simple factual, yes/no judgment, single-choice and complex descriptive questions. All instances are stored in JSON format, following a structure adapted from established biomedical QA datasets.
