SHARE (Stations at High Altitude for Research on the Environment) Network

SHARE Network is an international climate and atmospheric monitoring system including the following stations:
ITALY
- "O. Vittori" research station at Mt. Cimone (Nothern Apennine)
- "AWS1 Forni" on Forni glacier (Alps)
- "AWS Dosde'"on Dosde' glacier (Alps)
- "AWS Mt. Bianco- OSRAM" on Gigante glacier (Alps)

NEPAL
- Namche Bazar (Sagarmatha National Park Head Quarter, Khumbu Valley)
- Lukla (Khumbu Valley)
- Pheriche (Khumbu Valley)
- Pyramid Laboratory- Observatory (Lobuche, Khumbu Valley)
- Nepal Climate Observatory - Pyramid (Lobuche, Khumbu Valley)
- Kala Patthar (Khumbu Valley)
- Changri Nup Glacier (Khumbu Valley)
- Mt. Everest, South Col (Khumbu Valley)

PAKISTAN
- Askole (Baltistan, Pakistan)
- Urdukas (Baltoro glacier, Baltistan)

UGANDA
- Rwenzori (Elena Glacier, Rwenzori range)

All stations are continuously functioning, collecting data on various standard meteorological/climate parameters. A multidisciplinary team of researchers elaborates the data for international publication and dissemination.Scientific research is performed within the SHARE framework to:
1. analyze the influence of continental anthropogenic and natural processes, with particular attention on mountain regions
2. study the interaction between mountain ranges and global atmospheric circulation
3. characterize physical, chemical, optical properties of aerosol and their variations
4. study seasonal variability of atmospheric pollutants and climate-altering compounds
5. characterize wet deposition chemistry
