Differential gene expression of Beauveria bassiana after overexpression of Fcs1 gene for carboline alkaloid biosynthesis

The insect pathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana contains the bacterial-like carboline synthase gene Fcs1. Overexpression of Fcs1 in B. bassiana could activate the silent gene cluster to produce carboline alkaloids and their derivatives. Both the wild type (WT) and overexpression mutant strains were grown in the saprophytic Sabouraud dextrose broth for seven days. Total RNA was then extracted for both samples for RNA-seq analysis using an Illumina technique. There were two biological replicates for each sample.
