Four bulk soil samples were recovered from an abandoned channel of Leah Creek,
which is an offset across the San Andreas Fault in San Mateo County, California. These bulk
soil samples were examined to recover charcoal or other charred plant remains suitable for
radiocarbon analysis. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially
radiocarbon datable material was separated. Charred material from three of the samples was
AMS radiocarbon dated.
