Surface water samples for drinking water were collected in Japan between January 2018 and January 2021 to determine rotavirus genotypes and the genetic diversity in the water sample. Amplicon obtained from five primer sets (VP7, human VP6, animal VP6, short VP4 and long VP4 gene segment) was subjected to NGS in this study.
