The vast majority of these individuals have only one image included in the dataset. Most of the images are color photographs, with a small number of black-and-white ones. Sourced from natural real-world scenes, the dataset involves complex variations such as varying poses, lighting conditions, facial expressions, ages and occlusions, which poses high challenges to face recognition tasks. It is widely utilized for face recognition research conducted in unconstrained environments. Moreover, 6,000 pairs of images from the dataset are used to test the recognition accuracy of face recognition systems, and the dataset has been extensively applied to the performance evaluation and comparative analysis of various face recognition algorithms.
