Shortly: A 32 channel vertical array electrode (Neuronexus), with 50 µm distance between channels, was inserted perpendicularly into the primary auditory cortex of mice. The mice are a knock-in line containing a citrine tag on VGCCs. The KIT group has received a treatment lenti-virus coupling CRY2olig, an optogenetic protein that aggregates under blue light, to the citrine. KIC is the naive control (no virus) group, and KIV is the viral control (empty viral construct) group. Each mouse was subject to one day of recording in which the stimuli were pure tones, click trains, and amplitude modulation before and after blue laser stimulation to induce VGCC clustering in the KIT group.
