Fungi, including Basidiomycota are a trove for discovery of new bioactive natural products and biocatalysts for the development of the next generation of therapeutics and tools for industrial applications. Here, we collected several Basidiomycota specimens from different locations in Minnesota, established them as microbial cultures and identified them by DNA barcoding. Theses unique strains will be then used for discovery of new biomolecules and biocatalysts of economic interests.
