Images from a Structural Watching Brief at Leeds River Lock 1, Leeds, December 2024

This collection comprises images from a building survey and archaeological recording at Leeds River Lock 1, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Archaeological Services WYAS (ASWYAS) was commissioned by the Canal and River Trust to carry out a structural watching brief at River Lock 1 on the junction between the Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which was undertaken on the 17th of December. Dewatering of the lock for repairs uncovered structural timbers immediately east of the eastern lock gate. It is thought that the preserved structural timbers are most likely of a late 18th or 19th-century date.
