1. Raw 16S sequences from the Global Ocean Sampling Expedition (http://www.jcvi.org/cms/research/projects/gos/overview/).
2. Reference database 'gold' consisting of chimera free sequences
3. GreenGenes 'Core Set' (http://greengenes.secondgenome.com), a template alignment, comprising approximately 5000 aligned non-chimeric sequences representative of the currently recognized diversity among bacteria and archaea
