Fusarium culmorum is a soilborne fungal plant pathogen that causes foot and root rot and Fusarium head blight on a wide diversity of cereal crops. Moreover, F. culmorum is an important fungus to study the long-distance, volatile-mediated interactions with other microbes. The aim of this study was to investigate the genome of F. culmorum to identify genes and associated metabolites that potentially play important roles in fungal-bacterial interactions and that contribute to various crop diseases.
