We present metagenomic and transcriptomic data of a blue cyanosponge (Phyllospongiinae) commonly found in marine aquaria. For the transcriptome bleached and control specimens were used for RNASeq. The metagenomic reads were derived from a control specimen. These data should serve a basis for future studies using CBAS as a model sponge microbiome.
