Insulin may exert a direct inhibitory effect on the stimulatory effect of FSH on aromatase activity in long-term GLC culture at the dose corresponding to insulin levels found in patients with insulin resistance and compensatory hyperinsulinaemia when the cell number is controlled. Furthermore, we infer that insulin has no in vitro effects on basal E2-release and P-secretion in GLCs.
