Effect of estrogen and testesterone on muscle primary cultures

Male and female muscle primary cultures were obtained from healthy young individuals. Cultures were treated with either estrogen, testesterone or DMSO. Gene expression was measured as response to the treatment Skeletal muscle biopsies were taken from a total of five male and five female subjects and primary cultures were derived. Each subject's cultures were separated into three aliquots and each were treated with either estrogen, testesterone or control media.
