Dataset used for and gathered from a hardware benchmarking of a System of Module (SoM)

Required files and obtained results from the benchmarking activities carried out to evaluate the performance of different operating-system configurations for local edge computational resources supporting the Virtual Substation (VS) environment. The work started from a theoretical analysis of the considered operating-system alternatives, including configurations with virtualization capabilities, and continues with their experimental evaluation on the selected hardware platform. The benchmarking activities focus on identifying the performance behaviour and limitations of the evaluated configurations under representative workloads, with particular attention to processing, I/O, virtualization overhead and high-rate Ethernet traffic. The results provide useful input for selecting the most suitable operating-system approach depending on the target workload and deployment scenario.
