The present study was to evaluate the effects of substratum materials on microbial communities of DS biofilms. The water and biofilm samples were retrieved from a drinking water distribution system of Hubei Province, China. Two faucets with different materials, PVC and cast iron, have been installed in the kitchen of one household since 2001, and frequently provided water for the consumers by high usage from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
