Spatial representation of frontier geographies

This dataset contains the shapefile depicting a contemporary spatial representation of frontier geographies at the global scale. The data shows the most and the least modified areas using thresholds for human modification (30.0%), no cropland and pastures (7.5% or less pastureland per 1 square kilometre). Least modified areas indicate higher ecological and biodiversity values and relatively low rates of human modification. Most modified areas indicate areas of industrialisation, resource extraction, urbanisation, and commercial scale agriculture.
