The members of the genus Desulfoscipio is a group of obligatory anaerobic, spore-forming sulfate-reducing bacteria. So far, the genomes of only two species were sequenced and characterized. To identify whether strain XC116 is a novel species in Desulfoscipio genus, the comparative genomic analysis with other two genomes was necessary. Thus, the whole-genome sequencing of strain XC116 was performed.
