VPRS 8119 General Correspondence and Miscellaneous Administration Records

This series comprises minutes, general correspondence files and other material of routine administration of the Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre from its foundation in 1969. This is an accumulative series which is arranged under loose subject headings presumably kept in alphabetical order by the agency.The P1 consignment contains records which document the development of the collection policy and procedures of the gallery and provide evidence of the origin and functions of the Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre (M.P.A.C.) from 1969 to 1990.A major portion of correspondence files include letters and other documents e.g. newsletters, brochures and catalogues etc. exchanged with several other art galleries.The files also relate to the financial contributions made to the MPAC which was financed by direct gifts from individuals, business firms and industry and from contributions made by the Shire Councils of Mornington, Flinders and Hastings. Some files relate to the Mornington Peninsula Art Centre Gallery Society, it being the chief fund raising body. Minutes of the meetings of MPAC Society and its combined meetings with the Management Committee of the MPAC also form a part of this series.The MPAC's membership of the Regional Galleries Association of Victoria makes it eligible for Victorian State Government grants. Newsletters, copies of minutes of the meetings of the R.G.A.V. received by Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre as a member body also constitute a part of this series.Files relating to fund raising activities of the Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre include correspondence with various sponsors of art exhibitions.A large number of files relate to the various exhibitions and festivals of drawing organised by the Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre.Other material in the series includes items of routine administration e.g. Letter Book, Roster Book, Visitors Book, Cash Book and Message Book etc.
