Dangerous Harbor Project - Lancaster County - Reel 260 - Guardian Bonds, 1653-1850 - TIFFs 1-40

This dataset includes 40 TIFF files showing guardian bonds from Lancaster County in Virginia. They were created to protect the finances or assets of a person – often underaged – subjected to the custody of another individual. These documents were collected in association with the Dangerous Harbor Project which used courthouse documents to identify escaped unfree laborers in the 17th century Chesapeake and the punishments associated with their escape.
