Replication package: Cereal import dependence, weather shocks and food inflation (166 countries, 2000–2025)

This package reproduces all tables, figures and reported numbers of a study on how cereal import dependence relates to the pass-through of domestic and supplier-country weather shocks to consumer food inflation in 166 countries, 2000–2025. It contains analysis-ready data (a monthly country panel of food inflation, ERA5-based heat, drought and extreme-rain shocks, supplier-weighted foreign weather shocks, cereal import dependence and country characteristics, plus annual cereal supply data and agricultural trade-policy measures), a Python driver (Run_Analysis.py) that runs all estimations (panel local projections with Driscoll–Kraay standard errors, identification and robustness checks, country-block bootstrap), and an R driver (Build_Figures.R) for the figures. A standard run takes about six minutes and checks every regenerated number against the values reported in the paper.
