The series consists of bound books of indexes to the minutes of Mackellar County Council.The index books consist of verbatim records of resolutions passed by the council, extracted from the minutes themselves, but arranged by subject alphabetically (e.g. under headings such as accounting, electricity supply, street lights). There is a contents page in the front of each volume listing the headings used, and their location reference within the book. They are not arranged like conventional indexes.The indexes are divided into two different types – one set of books covering the minutes as a whole (1964-1979), and another single volume covering council policy only (1951-1979). In addition to the headings used for the general index, this latter volume also covers specific issues such as industrial matters, legal issues, property, and Gas and Electricity Acts.
