Data from: Soil tillage drives multifunctionality in the onset of a diversified cropping system

We studied the effects of three different diversification practices (i) diversified crop rotations, (ii) switch from inversion to shallow tillage, and (iii) the inclusion of service crops separately and combined on 15 different indicators of cropping system multifunctionality related to soil physical health, nutrient capture and cycling, natural weed regulation, natural pest regulation and macronutrient output (columns 11 to 25) in a diversification trial in Lövsta, Sweden (59°50'19.1"N, 17°47'15.8"E) across three years. While some indicators resemble the totals across the three-year period, most indicators are the result of the management changes after three years (see explanations below). The trial had a completely randomised design. Crop rotation and soil tillage treatments were implemented at the plot levels, whereas service crops were implemented at the subplot level, resulting in a total of 28 plots (24 m × 36 m) divided into 56 subplots (12 m × 36 m).
