Two samples were isolated from groundwater seeping from the Soudan Mine in Minnesota, USA. These sites were adjacent to one another but differed in chemistry and hydrogeology. Pyrosequencing was used to isolate the metagenome from these environments and further analysis showed differences in the metabolic potential in sample.
