Cleaned Metadata of Roman Empire Artifacts from Europeana

This dataset contains 47,157 cleaned and processed metadata records representing Roman Empire cultural heritage artifacts. The raw data was extracted from the Europeana REST API v2 as part of a reproducible digital humanities project at TU Darmstadt. The data was flattened from nested JSON and specifically cleaned to analyze geographic biases and the "quantity vs. quality" paradox in digital custodianship among modern European nations. Key processing steps include:- Removal of ambiguous geographic data provider tags (e.g., records generically tagged as "Europe").- The engineering of a custom `quality_category` variable, which translates Europeana's 0-10 completeness score into distinct tiers (Low, Medium, High) to evaluate institutional curation standards. This dataset contains only text-based metadata (no media files) and is intended for sociological and computational analysis of digital archives.
