RSV Nuyina Voyage Data 2023-24 V5

Voyage 5 of the 2023/2024 season onboard RSV Nuyina was a commissioning voyage to test scientific instrumentation and systems on board to ensure they were working correctly. The aim of this voyage was to identify any problems before a full scientific voyage was undertaken. The voyage took place in June 2024, and within the vicinity of the east coast of Tasmania.The V5 commissioning voyages focused on the operation of certain equipment. A collaboration with CSIRO and UTAS occurred. The following science systems were trialled throughout the voyage.Operation of Scientific Winches on Deck 4 Aft:RMT (Rectangular Midwater Trawl): 1 day dedicated.Towed Camera: 1 day dedicated.CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth) Side and Moonpool deployments.Acoustics: Continuous monitoring and data collection.Multibeam: Detailed seabed mapping and data collection.TOPAS (Topographic Parametric Sonar)/Cetacean Watch: Acoustic monitoring for cetaceans.Kasten Core: Sediment core sampling.Rock Dredge: Collection of rock samples from the seabed.CTD OperationsTransit to St Helens: Conducted trawling and towed camera operations during the transit.During this voyage the following significant events to the data set occurredA collaboration with CSIRO and UTASAdded Nuyina Underwater Towed Terminal, NUTTS, data in the data pipelineAdded ctd data into the data pipeline
