Elucidating adaptive evolution of Thermoanaerobacterium aotearoense LA1002-G40 to high-sugar medium

In this work, we first report the successful isolation of a commercial Thermoanaerobacterium aotearoense LA1002-G40 via sequential batch fermentation with step-increased carbon concentration. The evolved isolate rapidly catabolized sugars under high concentrations and subsequently produced L-lactic acid with good yield. Transcriptome sequencing was employed to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms involved in the tolerance of LA1002-G40 to high-substrate medium.
