Recently, we have been able to synthesize cobalt-based 2D MOFs, where each layer is decorated by icosahedral carborane clusters, facilitating the delamination by top-down methods. Using this approach, we achieved ultrathin cobalt 2D MOF nanosheets with lateral dimensions reaching micrometers by exfoliation. In this experiment, we propose to exploit the on-surface sensitivity of XAS & XMCD technique to investigate the magnetic behavior of Co 2D MOF nanosheets capped by various carborane-based ligands (Co-CB1, Co-CB2 and Co-I-CB2, which provide a larger substrate-layer and interlayer separation), deposited onto different technical substrates.
