The diagnostic quality of calculated DCE parameter maps of patients with high-grade and low-grade gliomas was evaluated. Two different curve-fitting algorithms (Levenberg-Marquardt and Baysian) and two compartmental models (extended Toft and 2-compartment-exchange model) were tested. Two experienced neuroradiologists assessed the diagnostic quality with regard to (i) tumor-to-background discrimination, (ii) tumor-to-‘surrounding normal vessels’ discrimination, and (iii) overall impression. A 4-step-scale was used with 1 = not interpretable due to severe image degradation, 2 = considerable image artifacts limiting interpretation, 3 = good quality, and 4 = excellent quality.
