The phenotype and adaptability of trees are governed by genetic and environmental factors. In this study, 40 poplar clonal comparative test plantations established at three distinct locations (Lishu, Cuohai, Fujin) in Northeast China were surveyed and analyzed. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among various sources of variation for all traits (P < 0.001). The phenotypic coefficient of variation for different traits ranged from 14.84% to 23.61%. The repeatability of different traits spanned from 0.81 to 0.97. The genotype × environment interaction model demonstrated that clones G33, G38 and G32 were stable and high-yielding genotypes, while the Lishu area served as an ideal experimental environment that could clearly discriminate differences among clones.
