KGI-SESMAP

The KGI-SESMAP dataset comprises 88 high-resolution orthomosaics documenting southern elephant seal (Mirounga leonina) breeding colonies on King George Island, Antarctica. These data were collected using remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPASs) during annual breeding-season surveys conducted between 2019 and 2024. Fieldwork was carried out across three Antarctic Specially Protected Areas (ASPAs 128, 132, and 151), capturing fine-scale spatial patterns in seal distribution, reproductive phenology, and environmental background. Ground sampling distances (GSDs) range from 1.0 to 4.9 cm/pixel. The dataset includes 88 orthomosaics in GeoTIFF format, each accompanied by a corresponding Pix4D Quality Report in PDF format. Files are provided as individual, standalone items—without hierarchical folders by location or year—to maximize compatibility with repository systems and simplify downloading, especially for large files exceeding 1 GB. This flat file structure corresponds to the organization detailed in Table 1 of the associated manuscript.
