He wears a dark suit with a vest and bowtie and an unbuttoned jacket. His salt-and-pepper beard is only covers his chin and is ill-trimmed and grisly, although his face appears to be no older than a man's in his mid-forties. His hair is parted to the side. The inscription below the photograph reads "Yours Fraternally, E.F. Spence".
