The present study investigated the abundance, bacterial species composition, and distribution of Benthic cyanobacterial mats (BCMs) around the tropical coral reefs of Koh Tao, Thailand. BCMs of different morphotypes and depths were collected and analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing to investigate the associated bacterial community and if the mats morphotype and specific environmental conditions could explain bacterial community variation.
