资源简介:
These data accompany the article ‘Science communication for social
inclusion: exploring Science & Art approaches’ (Matias et al., 2020).
The data is about the project 'Embodying memories', a project that explored innovative techniques to engage socially-vulnerable communities with science. It is a three phase programme: (1) Design, plan and collaboration; (2) Implementation; and (3) Evaluation. The relation between the data files and the phases of the project is in project_database_navigation.pdf. The programme included pre-session meetings between partners from science communication, art museum, municipality social workers and researchers. Afterwards pre-session meetings with the community took place. During the implementation and evaluation phases, eight sessions occurred between September and November 2018. A project public presentation took place on 30/11/2018.
Table 1 includes the description of project’s sessions 1 to 8. Column 1 is
the session number, theme, date, location, duration; column 2 is the activity
and details are provided in column 3. (See Fig. 1, 2 and 3 of the corresponding
article).
Table 2 includes the indicators to evaluate the project, the qualitative
methods used to collect evaluation data, and a brief description about method’s
application.
Table 3 includes the framework of project evaluation, including impact
indicator, objective, data collection method, evidences that impact was
attained/not attained and assessment result. Note that the assessment followed the
rank: none, some, moderate, high, and very high.
Datasheet 1 includes the general characteristics of participants. Column 1 is a
random participant number; column 2 is age; column 3 is the number of years
participants stayed at school, at young age; column 4 is the number of project
sessions each participant attended, from a maximum of nine (including public
presentation).
Figure 1 presents main characteristics
of the project local community. Below panel represents the number of
participants in each age category (in blue) and the average schooling per age
category (in orange).
Figure 2 represents the
timeline of interactions between the boundary spanner (BS) and the several
partners, during the phase of project design, plan and collaboration.
Figure 3 shows pictures
of the four occasions where the fabric yarn network was used: (a) session 4,
(b) session 5, (c) project public presentation, and (d) session 6.
List of acronyms:
IGC - Gulbenkian Institute of

BS – Boundary spanner (science
communicator who inhabited the laboratory sphere, the museum sphere, and the
community world).
