Commissariat Building - Bytown Museum (Second Floor) - Integrated Project Work (2015)

The Bytown Museum, also known as the Commissariat Building, was built in 1827 to house the supplies of the Royal Engineers building the Rideau Canal. It is the oldest stone building in Ottawa, and is an example of pre-confederation architecture. It is easily identified by its imposing masonry and supply doors on each level. The building is designated as historic by the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office, and the designation is confined to the footprint of the building. This is the Integrated Project Dossier compiled by a group of undergraduate students of the Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Program (Engineers and architects) at Carleton University for the CIVE3207 (ARCN4100) Historic Site Recording and Assessment course in 2015. The scope of this project focused on recording the second floor of the museum.
