16S amplicon sequencing of KB-1 dechlorinating cultures

Amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene was used to analyse the microbial community of KB-1 subcultures that dechlorinate TCE and/or 1,2,4-TCB. We hypothesized that by contrasting the relative distribution of microorganisms in the subcultures fed TCE with those fed 1,2,4-TCB, it would be possible to identify a candidate 1,2,4-TCB-degrading bacterial genus.
