This dataset contains primary research data from the master’s thesis "Self-concept and Aggressiveness among Adolescents in Youth Detention Centers" (2025), defended at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
Research Aim: The study investigates the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), self-concept structure, and aggression levels in a specific population of adolescents. It compares two groups: adolescents in youth detention centers (institutionalized) and their peers from general secondary schools.
Data Content: The provided CSV file contains 132 cases with the following variables:
Socio-demographic data: Age, gender, facility type, parental education, and history of family background.
Risk behavior and clinical history: Conflict with the law, substance use onset (SUD), history of self-harm, and suicidal ideation/attempts.
Psychometric measures:
ACE-IQ: Detailed scores on adverse childhood experiences (abuse, neglect, household dysfunction).
SCQ (Self-Concept Questionnaire / DOS-36): T-scores and raw scores for dimensions such as social adaptability, anxiety resilience, and physical appearance.
SADSS (The Dolejš, Suchá, and Skopal Aggression Scale): T-scores for hostility, anger, and physical aggression.
Methodology: Data were collected using pseudonymized self-report questionnaires. The research was conducted under the ethical guidelines of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. All personal identifiers have been removed to ensure the privacy of the participants.
