Feasibility of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for locally-advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma

Wide variation exists globally in the treatment and outcomes of patients with locally-advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) with significant proportions not receiving the recommended treatment. This thesis examines the proportion of LA-NSCLC patients not receiving curative treatment in an Australian population, followed by an investigation of strategies to assess the feasibility of using stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) to provide these patients with an alternative curative treatment option. This thesis shows that SABR is a technically feasible and clinically safe treatment option for patients with LA-NSCLC.
