Tree species and soil depth affect microbial necromass formation in temperate forest soils, surpassing the impact of microbial and faunal community composition

Dataset (MS Excel file) provides information on soil biological activity, microbial community composition, and soil organic matter fractions collected from temperate forest soils. It includes measurements (means+SD) of soil respiration, microbial biomass carbon (Cmic), relative abundance of microbial groups, and absolute abundance of soil microfauna. The dataset also features detailed soil fraction analyses, including particulate organic matter (POM) and mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM).
