Whole genome sequencing of putative plant probiotic microorganisms

Commercially available agricultural biologicals for plants as well entries of public collections of plant growth-promoting strains have been subjected to whole genome sequencing characterisation. This allowed us to define the metabolic capacities of the selected microorganisms and guided the definition of the microbiome intervention phase within the EU project CIRCLES. This 'functional fingerprinting' integrated with other experimental lines in the project to ultimately develop consortia of hub microbes as novel products to be tested in field conditions.
