20 litres of saline water was filtered and subjected to ferric chloride centrifugation to coagulate and collect the initial microbial load in the experimental water. Microbial DNA was extracted via Zhou et al., 1998 and sent for amplicon sequencing using Illumina platform. raw reads were processed in MGRAST.
