Hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen are the most abundant chemically active elements in the Universe, and they are expected to play key roles in the mineralogy of giant planets in the Solar System and beyond. Studies of chemical interactions among C, H, N, and O are vital across various research domains. These elements are pivotal as they form the core components of life and are crucial for the development of advanced materials. Recent success in the synthesis and structural studies of high-pressure C-N and C-N-H compounds at ESRF encourages us to propose an investigation of the C-N-O-H system at multi-megabar pressure ranges. The primary goal is to provide mineral physics and chemistry data for modelling the interiors of giant planets.
