Probiotics improve mental health and disease status in patients with ulcerative colitis

Patients with ulcerative colitis are susceptible to psychological disorders, which could negatively affect the condition itself, forming a vicious circle. Meanwhile, certain probiotics have been proved to alleviate mental dysfunction in various conditions, as well as improve disease status in UC. Yet little is known about probiotics' efficacy on UC patients with concomitant psychological disorders. The aim of this study is to investigate the potential of probiotic in brain-gut co-management among UC patients with psychological disorders.
