Ancient genomes from North Africa evidence prehistoric migrations to the Maghreb from both the Levant and Europe. Neolithic ancient DNA genomes from North Africa and Souther Spain

The extent to which prehistoric migrations of farmers influenced the genetic pool of western north Africans remains unclear. Pottery in North Africa exhibits strong resemblance to European cultures, like Cardial and Andalusian Early Neolithic, the southern-most Early Neolithic culture from Iberia. We present the first analysis of low-coverage genome sequences of individuals from early and late Neolithic sites in Morocco, as well as individuals from Early Neolithic Andalusian.
