Chlorogloeopsis sp. ULAP01 Genome sequencing and assembly. Chlorogloeopsis sp. ULAP01

The study aims to (a) construct the whole genome sequence of the local Chlorogloeopsis sp., (b) characterize the genome in terms of the size, GC content, coding, and non-coding sequences, (c) compare the whole genome and biosynthetic gene cluster sequences and other characteristics with other sequences of Chlorogloeopsis sp. available in the public databases, and (d) determine and screen the genes and/or BGCs associated with antiviral metabolites.As of this writing, there are only 4 available whole genome sequences of C. fritschii in the public databases. The first reported whole genome sequence of the species was of Chlorogloeopsis fristschii PCC 9212 isolated from the thermal springs of Orense, Spain (Dagan et al., 2013). The local Chlorogloeopsis sp. was isolated from an extreme mine tailing environment and thus differed from the previously reported strain in terms of its ecosystem type and location. Further, this research focused on the deep sequencing of the BGCs associated with the production of antiviral metabolites.Therefore, if accepted, the submitted assembly will be the first assembled genome of Chlorogloeopsis fritschii isolated from a tropical region.
