Measurements of oceanic organosulfur compounds, carbon dioxide and ammonium made during the Belgica 9412 research cruise as part of the JGOFS and OMEX projects in the North-East Atlantic during April and May 1994

This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic DMS and DMSP made by Ba Cuong Nguyen; oceanic carbon dioxide made by Michel Frankignouelle; and oceanic ammonium made by Marc Elskens during the Belgica 9412 research cruise in the North East Atlantic as part of Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS) and Ocean Margin EXchange (OMEX). The cruise began on 20th April 1994 and ended on 5th May 1994 with a spatial coverage of +45N to +52N latitude and +1W to +13W longitude.

The data consists of:
-52 measurements of the concentration of dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography;
-57 measurements of dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography;
-121 measurements of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in the water column by computation from pH and alkalinity;
-121 measurements of the concentration of carbon (total inorganic) (TCO2) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) computed from pH and alkalinity; and
-79 measurements of the concentration of ammonium (NH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by manual colorimetric analysis.
