Hypertension with low renin - new insights into prevalence, pathophysiology, and management

This thesis investigates a common but often overlooked form of high blood pressure known as low-renin hypertension. This research shows that this condition is common – 1 in 4 individuals with high blood pressure have it - and that therapies targeting kidney sodium handling are more effective at reducing blood pressure in these individuals. Applying this approach in clinical practice could improve blood pressure control, reduce complications, and enable more personalised and effective treatment for a large group of patients.
