A cat presented to a Scottish veterinary practice with conjunctivitis and an uncommon brown disc located on the cornea of the eye. The lack of improvement one week post administration of the first round of antibiotics has prompted the veterinarian to isolate the bacteria and send the sample off to the Vet Diagnostic Service within the University of Glasgow. API suggested anaerobic Actinomyces, an unusual cause of eye infection in felines, so was sequenced as part of identification efforts.
