NRS-4238 | Copies of letters sent to Government Departments (other than the Colonial Secretary) [Executive Council]

This series contains copies of letters sent to government officers (other than the Colonial Secretary) 1849-55, and to ministerial departments (other than the Colonial Secretary's Department), 1856-64. Copies of letters sent acknowledge minute papers received, accompany minute papers returned to departments after being tabled before the Executive Council, and request the attendance of government officers at Council meetings. Covering letters to the Secretary for Lands accompanying petitions objecting to the "formation of proposed parish roads" are also entered. From 1862 the practice was adopted of entering a precis of routine letters sent, rather than copying each letter in its entirety.
